With the House of Representatives expected to vote on the health care bill Sunday, members of 9-12 Idaho and Tea Party Boise got together for a rally against the bill. The group held their rally outside of Idaho Democratic Representative Walt Minnick’s Meridian office.

“This is to show our appreciation towards Walt Minnick for his no vote on the health care bill,” said Russ Smerz, a member of Tea Party Boise.

Idaho’s other Representative, Mike Simpson says he will also vote against the bill. Despite the fact Idaho’s two House Members share in the groups opposition, they still feel it is necessary to make their voices heard on proposed health care reform they say will not help Idahoans.

“It’s going to cost more, it’s going to reduce our medical care, it’s going to do nothing to reduce our medical cost,” claims Smerz.

Today’s protesters view the health care bill as a massive expansion of the size of the Federal Government, which they say takes power away from the people.

“Government has never done anything efficiently and we don’t have any confidence they’ll do a better job with this,” said Valerie Candelaria, Secretary and Treasurer 9-12 Idaho.

The rally concluded with a telephone call from Walt Minnick, who addressed the group from Washington, DC.  He thanked the folks for taking time out of their spring morning to connect with him on this issue.  Minnick restated his determination to vote against this bill, and the crowd responded with a resounding “thank you” and “stand strong”!!  (appended by 9-12)
